Hoity toity
Gary
One of the many hurdles one has to jump (like the Olympic reference?), when at a convention, is where to eat. Most people think that they can only go to some fast food place, or get some really bad food at a dive somewhere, or eat in the cafeteria. Normally there are a lot of very nice restaurants around a convention center. I've been with a lot of people who are reluctant to go to them because they think they'll be kicked out of them.

Well, I'm here to tell you that the chances of that are really really slim. I've been in the IT industry for a long time. This industry normally means that you don't have to dress well. For a large chunk of my job history, I was positioned downtown in Chicago. It was here that I learned that you can walk in to the most classy and highest priced of restaurants in jeans and a t-shirt (even when they have a dress code), and get seated and served. All you have to do is walk in as if it's normal, as if you belong.

I've never actually been turned away. So, despite what this comic displays, chances are you'll be treated just like everyone else. Next time you're at a convention, grab a good meal during it, at a fancy restaurant. You'll be glad you did. Just remember to walk in confident, be courteous, and tip well. Enjoy.
