Confession time
Gary
Ok, now before the people that I know who read this comic jump down my throat about this comic, the things I'm doing lately, and the thing that spawned this comic are all well with in my job description. It seems I recently spent a lot of time trying to find a data/setup issue. Normally this isn't something I have to do. Normally another team finds and fixes it, but they come to me if it's a system I've built and they can't find the issue. Well... the problem was related to the setup of a system I built, so I looked into it, and many hours later discovered that it was an obscure data issue that I didn't think would occur, because I thought there was a database enforced rule that stopped it from occurring. I was wrong.

In the defense of those I work with, I was one of a few people in the company that probably could've found it (with out spending massive amounts of time tracing through the rather dynamic code), and now the team that normally looks at this stuff, knows to look for this issue if a problem is occurring. Also in every-one's defense, I probably shouldn't have based the code in this system on the field I did, I thought it was unique, and, theoretically, it's supposed to be, but it's not enforced by the database, which I didn't know. Chances are we'll make it enforced by the database, if no other app has an issue with that. Live and learn, but at the time I was pissed that I was tracking down something that I thought would be a simple setup issue, instead of an obscure setup issue. This was all following some new tasks (my job responsibilities changed recently) that also don't feel like my job, but now they are. Well that ends my little explanation, time to play with some after hours android work, something I actually want to do.

Well.. do that or get some sleep. Also for those geeks out there, G4's "CODE MONKEYS" is now on netflix view it now. It's enjoyable if you know a bunch about gaming and coding, or just like random humor.
