Good little laptop
Comic number two; and the laptop's tried and true. I'm still trying to get the hang of hair. I like how Jane's came out, but I'm going to have to play around with Hope's and try to figure out what I want it to do. Otherwise, I'm having fun with it. Friday's "One off" comic won't be very art intensive. It's mostly just text, and as usual, me complaining.

So, for anyone who's just started reading this comic, the way it works is: on Mondays, and now also Wednesdays, I do a comic with the main characters, Jane, Jase, and Jacob. This tends to be a story arc. Then on Fridays, I do what I call a "One off" comic, which is just me making a joke. No reoccurring characters, no story. Those comics tend to be general jokes about programming and corporate life. If I ever don't have time to do a comic, I put up what I call a "Place holder" comic. This is a comic that can nothing to do with anything and often has limited art, or is in black and white, or something like that. I always mark the comics at the top with what type they are, "The three Js" (story arc), "One off" (random jokes), and "Place holder" (I'm too lazy, but here's something anyways). Also, on many of the comics, if you look at the alt-text for the comic (mouse over and see the dialog), there's often an additional little joke relating to the comic. If you ever want the comic in another language, google translate will translate that part too, so you can see the dialog in another language. If a comic doesn't have the dialog on the mouse over, then I haven't gotten around to putting in that text yet, or I didn't have time when I was uploading it. I plan to have the dialog for all the comics in there before the end of the year.

Another feature which you've probably seen is the quote of the day. It appears on the left column on the site, and is updated daily. So if you go to Monday's comic on Tuesday, you'll see a quote for Monday and one for Tuesday.

Ok, I think that covers the basics. Enjoy.

Halloween contest roughs
Here are the rough layouts for the Halloween contest prizes. They will end up much nicer and refined (hopefully by October first).

So you know what these are, these are the first step I take in making a comic. They are what I do to get a general idea of what I want to accomplish. After this, I sketch it out one to many times. I then ink it, base color it, shade it, and finally add the text and text balloons. So these are far from finished pieces, as you can easily see. I still have to get the proportions and poses down. Add details like clothes, etc. I thought I'd put these up for those who are eager to see what they could win, and I'll post updates as I work on them, so you can see the progress and glimpse how I make these things. Be careful, the glimpse into the workings of my mind may drive one mad.
