C..c..cold as ice This comic was inspired by some of George Perez's work. In Avengers 194 and 195, he drew these winter scenes that to me, were amazing. One feels cold just looking at them, so I wanted to try and replicate that feeling, even if just a little, but remember, George Perez is a master, and I'm just a dabbler. Hopefully, when you look at this comic you get a little shiver and remember winter. Some images of the work I'm talking about are at the bottom of this post.
To be completely honest, the original comic pages give off this feel way more than the digitally "enhanced" versions. The colors are just too bright and vivid on those. DC is doing similar when they "clean up" and digitize their Detective comics. It's kind of sad,
because the artists knew their medium. They knew the paper was off white, and that the colors weren't super vibrant. With that knowledge, they were able to make scenes that felt cold and gray, and other scenes that felt bright, or dark and moody. The digitization isn't taking into account the original media, so the moody scenes feel bright and lively, and the snow doesn't feel cold and overcast, it feels bright and warm, as the colors are over saturated. *sigh* Oh well. Hopefully I did better with this digital version.
Also remember that the voting on the Halloween contest ends Saturday night, so go over there and place your votes, as many as you like.
