Las Vegas Supernatural Convention Part 1
Gary
As you know, a couple weekends ago, I went to a Supernatural convention in Las Vegas, this year's version of this one, and this is a comic that popped into my head while I was there. This is also reason three thousand five hundred and twenty-nine of why I'm not a writer for a major TV show. Earlier, I told you all I would write a little about this great convention, so here we go. I got to see Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Jim Beaver, Sebastian Roche, Mischa Collins, Rob Benedict, Richard Speight Jr., and Ty Olsson do Q&A, and I must say, they were pretty brilliant at it. The only celebrity, that I've seen do a Q&A at par with these guys, was Bruce Campbell. Everyone was hilarious, and some of them even answered the questions asked. If you ever get to see these guys in person, I highly recommend it.

Ty Olsson was very kind, and thanked everyone countless times for being fans. He tried to answer the serious questions he was asked as best he could, all while joking with the band that was on stage. Sebastian Roche had gone on before him as a rated R Q&A, so Ty Olsson made a deal with the parents of a kid whose birthday it was, that he would try to keep it PG. He also offered to give the kid a dollar every time he swore on stage. All in all, it was mostly swear free, but there were some slip ups, which he apologized for, and paid the kid for. During his talk, Rick Worthy made a special appearance. Everyone in the audience loved it, and both Rick and the fans welcomed Ty into the Supernatural family.

Throughout the convention, Richard Speight Jr. played the on stage host, introducing everyone, making jokes, and just being generally entertaining. He also had a Q&A session. During it, he told us how Supernatural was the first time he had a real fan following, where he could walk into a hotel for a con, and everyone would just stare at him. Other shows he'd been on were large shows, but the fan base for this show, and I'm guessing, shows like Farscape, SG1, Star Trek, and others like that, have a different kind of fan base, and he was happy to see and experience this kind of fan base. It's a fun kind of fans to have. During his Q&A, we also got to see just how good a story teller he is, as he told us about a train trip he took with Jared. If you see him in person, ask him to tell you this story. It's really funny, and his story telling ability shines like the sun during it.

Another person who was on the stage a lot, between Q&As, with the band, was Rob Benedict. I only got to see one of his two Q&As, but it was good. Unfortunately, a bunch of people left as it was starting, because it was at the same time as the Jensen and Jared group photos. Due to the mass exodus, his Q&A started off a little slower than most of the others. It was a slow, relaxed, smooth start that ended up with the crowd laughing and enjoying themselves. Of the Q&A sessions, I think only Jim Beaver's actually answered more questions with real answers. If you ever get to see Rob Benedict in person, make your question somehow related to music, and you'll get a really thought out answer.

Alright, it's getting really late, and I have to work tomorrow, so I'll write about the rest on Friday, as I post another Supernatural related comic. Friday's comic is one that comes directly from Rob Benedict's Q&A. Until Friday, have fun. If you want to leave a comment, write about some interesting convention experience you've had.

Friday comic is going to be late
Gary
I really wanted to get the comic done on time, but I have another two to fours hours to put in on it, before it's to the state I want it to be. I'm sorry I have to say this, but the Friday comic will be posted on Saturday. The comic, so far, is no Sistine Chapel, but, it's probably, visually, one of my best comics to date, even in its current uncompleted state.
